I’m excited to welcome my good friend, Ashlea Strickler, onto the podcast today!
Ashlea and I connected quite a while ago, and we hit it off right away. She’s a farm wife, mom to 3 boys, and part-time hairstylist in rural Iowa. Ashlea considers herself your hype-girl and biggest cheerleader; she loves to dream big, and she’s extremely passionate about the concept ‘simplify to amplify’. After being a full-time stay-at-home mom for over a decade, her youngest went off to school, and she found herself at a crossroads. Ashlea was feeling a little lost on what she would do next, and more specifically, what she ‘should’ be filling her time with. Like so many of us, Ashlea thought that doing ‘more more more’ was the logical next step for her. However, her mindset began to change after going to therapy; Ashlea had a major eye-opening experience when she was told she needed to REMOVE things from her plate, instead of adding more to it.
Ashlea and I talk more about what it can look like to ‘simplify to amplify’ in all aspects of our life. Growing up in a generation that’s big on ‘quitters don’t win, and winners don’t quit’, we think that chasing (and achieving) the next big thing will FINALLY make us feel like we’re enough, and prove our worth. Unfortunately, this is why soooo many of us are frazzled, overwhelmed, and pretty much drowning in the day to day. Instead of trying to do ALL.THE.THINGS, what if we chose to focus on one specific thing that we were lit up about, and actually made sense in our current season of life? It’s vital that we adjust our expectations, and let go of the mental weight that’s weighing all too heavily on us.
When we stop trying to fit ourselves into someone else’s mold of what we ‘should’ be doing, we’re able to welcome in empowering thoughts, and create space for more of what lights us up + actually fills our cup. I want to encourage you to take a step back, and really think about this concept of ‘simplify to amplify’ – specifically, how this could support you where you are right now. Ultimately, allowing yourself to be the beautiful, curious, and ever-evolving person you strive to be WILL lead you to the alignment you very much crave, friend!
Ashlea Stricker is a farm wife, mom of 3 boys, and hairstylist living in a rural town in central Iowa. When she’s not chasing her boys or helping out on the farm, you can find her reading her favorite book, or watching Gilmore Girls (with a coffee in hand, and of course, avoiding laundry at all costs). Ashlea is a big dreamer and she loves cheering others on – she is a self-proclaimed cheerleader and your biggest hype girl!
