Today’s episode has been a looong time comin’, and it’s EXTRA special for a couple of reasons!
Not only are we celebrating the 100th episode of Gather in Growth, but I’m also joined by the love of my life – my husband, Andrew! I polled my IG community for questions they wanted to ask Andrew, and I have plenty of my own topics that we dig into as well, so you better believe this will be fun, and one you do NOT want to miss.
In today’s episode, Andrew and I talk about farming, marriage, fatherhood, and growth. We’re coming up on 10 years of marriage this year, and our current season of life with 3 little kids is pretty chaotic most of the time..but in the best ways possible too! We’ve experienced a LOT of ups and downs in the decade + we’ve been together, and have learned so much about ourselves along the way. Andrew and I had different expectations when it came to marriage and parenting, and those early years with our older kids were filled with a variety of emotions. While we were intentional about our parenting decisions from the very beginning, there were MANY long days (and nights) filled with resentment, frustration, burnout, anxiety, and everything in between. Andrew and I have learned a variety of lessons over the years, many which came from my decision to quit my job and start my own business. From putting ourselves in each other’s shoes (instead of assuming we know what the other one is going through), to actively pursuing growth, healing, and peace, we’ve learned that working together and fully trusting each other during good times (and really hard times) is so, SO necessary!
Marriage is NEVER a perfect 50/50; it’s important to remember that your relationship will continue to change and fluctuate. Adversity builds resilience though, and you can come out stronger on the other side, as long as you’re facing any struggles and challenges as a team. There really is so much beauty in understanding and embracing ALL seasons in life (just like we do in farming); we have to be willing to put in the work and step outside of our comfort zones. I’m super proud of Andrew and I, and the abundance of growth and healing we’ve experienced in recent years. I hope this episode encourages you and lets you know you’re never alone (regardless of the season of life you’re in); I’m forever grateful you’re here for this 100th episode, friend!
