I’m excited to have my amazing friend, Calli Thorne, as today’s podcast guest!
Calli and I share many similar passions and philosophies regarding the rural space, and helping women pursue personal and professional growth is super important to both of us. Calli is no stranger to the agriculture lifestyle; she grew up on a farm, and now, she and her family farm and ranch in North Dakota, with multiple enterprises happening on their operation. Calli has also worn a variety of hats as an entrepreneur. From building a thriving Mary Kay business to eventually joining the John Maxwell leadership team as a trainer and coach, she loves being a multi-business entrepreneur (what she calls herself) who helps others rise above average in their thoughts and skills, and ultimately, reach their God-given potential.
Calli and I are talking all about mindset and mental health, and what the work looks like when you’re truly ready to change your mindset. Changing your mindset is a paradigm shift, and you HAVE to be willing to dig into the thoughts and feelings you’re having on a daily basis, if you want to change your circumstances. We’re also discussing what mental health first aid is, why it’s important that we take time to listen and give people a chance to share how they’re (really) doing, how to start having more conversations about mental health with your loved ones (especially when those deep-rooted, intergenerational stigmas are very present), and more.
External accomplishments don’t really mean anything if you’re constantly rushing through life, and never spending quality time with those who are most important to you. Taking the time to slow down, and really consider what a fulfilling, well-rounded life looks like for you and your family is SO very important. This entire episode was actually a shining example of the ‘everything is figureoutable’ mindset (something Calli and I have both experienced on our journeys), because we had internet/connection issues multiple times, and still had an incredibly beautiful conversation. Remember that your mindset and mental health matters, and YOU are in charge of focusing on values and priorities that align with the life you’re trying to create, friend!
Calli Thorne is a keynote speaker, global leadership trainer, mindset coach, and multi-business entrepreneur. She is married to her husband CJ and they have three young children. Calli grew up on her family’s farm and ranch in northwest North Dakota. Today, they operate multiple enterprises including a backgrounding feedlot, cow/calf operation, and sell beef directly to consumers. Calli is a certified member of the John Maxwell Leadership Team specializing in personal and professional development, including conflict resolution, communication, mindset impact, and understanding behavioral styles. She also offers Mental Health First Aid certification classes, a variety of masterminds, and recently launched an online course titled “Finding YOU Discovering IT.”
